Laser Hair Removal Q & A
Almost everyone has unwanted hair somewhere on their body. Unfortunately, traditional hair removal routines can be tedious, painful and expensive over time. Lasers are precise instruments that can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle. The laser uses a wide beam that treats many hairs at once so large areas such as your legs, arms, or back can be treated in a short period of time. You will see results that last far longer than tweezing, waxing, shaving, chemical depilation, or other temporary methods.
How does it work?
To eliminate hair, the laser emits gentle pulses of energy through the skin that are attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle. This energy is then absorbed into the hair follicle, disabling growth of the follicles, resulting in quick, safe, and effective hair removal.
Am I a viable candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal can be applied to all areas of the body and on all types of skin (even tanned or dark skin).
What if I have gray, white, blonde, red or light fine hair?
Since the laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle, these hair colors may not have enough pigment to be successfully treated with the laser. If this applies to you, you may want to try a test spot to see if you hair responds to the laser.
Does it hurt?
The treatment causes only minimal discomfort. Patients often say it feels similar to the snap of a rubber band. However, since every person's level of sensitivity is different and treatment areas may vary, a topical numbing cream is available. Slight redness or localized swelling can occasionally occur, but this usually subsides within the first 24 hours after treatment.
How many treatments are required?
Typically patients will see results in 4 - 6 treatments, though this number will vary based upon skin tone, hair color and several other factors. Your doctor or practitioner will talk to you about variables that may affect your individual results.
What should I expect after laser treatment?
After your initial treatment, you should enjoy a significant reduction of hair. However, it will take 7 to 10 days for the treated hair to push its way to the surface and fall out. With each treatment, the hair in the active growing phase will be effectively treated. A follow up appointment is scheduled four to eight weeks after treatment.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Based on our experience we believe the hair treated probably will not re-grow. Each person's treatment response may be different because of their hair or skin type and due to the fact that there are between 500 to 1,000 follicles per square cm, of which many are dormant at the time of treatment, we have no way of knowing if and when they may start growing due to stress levels, certain medications and different hormone levels.
Leg and Facial Vein Removal Q & A
Leg and facial veins are bothersome at best, unattractive at worst. Fortunately, with cosmetic laser treatment, you can make yourself look and feel a whole lot better - often times, with as little as only one or two visits.
What causes unwanted veins?
Red, blue or purple leg and facial veins can be a result of sun exposure, use of oral contraception, hormone therapy, age or genetics.
How does laser treatment work?
A cosmetic laser emits a prescribed dose of energy to the vein. The laser "selectively" targets the problem veins while sparing surrounding areas. After treatment, the vessel will naturally disappear.
How many treatments are required?
Typically only one or two treatments are required and results can be seen in 3-4 weeks. Treatment time usually varies between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated.
Does it hurt?
The treatment causes only minimal discomfort. Any redness or swelling should be gone within a day and you'll be able to resume normal activities immediately.
Laser Anti-Aging Q & A
Reverse the signs of aging with cosmetic laser skin rejuvenation. Cosmetic lasers are proven to effectively treat the wrinkles, photo aging and skin discolorations that time and sun have wrought. In addition to minimizing these imperfections, laser treatment also stimulates collagen production, making your skin appear more supple and full. So even if the years have taken their toll, you can now easily turn the clock back.
How does it work?
Cosmetic laser treatments reverse the signs of aging and sun-damaged skin by stimulating collagen production and promoting tissue tightening through tissue coagulation.
Am I candidate?
It's a simple as this - if you skin is showing signs of aging, then you are a candidate for laser treatment. Your doctor or practitioner can help you determine your specific needs.
Are there any side effects to treatment?
Anti-aging treatment should cause only minimal discomfort. Any redness, swelling or puffiness that occurs can be gone within a few days, if not a few hours.
How many treatments are required?
Results vary with each case. Patients may require anywhere from 2 - 6 treatments to achieve desired results. Each session will last from 15 to 30 minutes.
How long do results last?
Just like the aging process itself, this varies from person to person. However, if you take steps to protect and preserve your freshly rejuvenated skin - such as using SPF sunscreen, facial cleansers and creams - the results will last longer.
